THE TATRAN LINE 2005 - 52%
Who was the first to discover the High Tatra Mountains and when is not known today. The first written reference of hiking in the Tatras dates back to the 16th century and the trip was made by the honorable burgers of the free royal town of Kežmarok together with the Lady of the castle Beata Laska. And it did not remain only Mrs. Laska who succumbed to their charms...
The High Tatras spring up in the northern part of Slovakia bordering Poland and ¾ of the mountains are located in Slovak territory. The Tatras are the only mountains belonging to the Carpathian range having an Alpine character, their main ridge stretching for 26 km. They are the highest range of the Carpathian Arc, with 25 peaks towering more than 2,500 m above sea level.
Lomnický peak, robust and elegant, 2,634 m high and called Grandpa by the old Tatra dwellers, used to be taken for the highest Tatran peak until the year 1837. To its right rises Kežmarský peak, 2,556 m high. Its 550 m tall southern wall is considered a climbers ‘ paradise among mountaineers. The silhouette of these two Tatran peaks makes up an integral part of our logo image.
When you stand on top of the Tatras‘ peaks, magnificent vistas open up before you bringing you the feeling you are above it all...
This is the nature of our TATRAN LINE.
