THE TATRAN LINE 2005 - 52%
It is still not known today who was the first person to discover the High Tatra Mountains and when. The first written reference of hiking in the Tatras dates back to the 16th century when a trip was made by the honourable citizens of the free royal town of Kežmarok together with the mistress of its castle, Beata Laska. And it was not only Mrs Laska who succumbed to the Tatras’ charms ...
The High Tatras spring up in the northern part of Slovakia bordering Poland, with ¾ of the mountains being located in Slovak territory. The Tatras are the only mountains in the Carpathian range which have an alpine character, their main ridge stretching for 26 km. They are the highest range in the Carpathian arc, with 25 peaks towering more than 2,500 m above sea level.
Lomnický Peak, robust and elegant, is 2,634 m high and called “Grandpa” by the old Tatra locals. It was considered the highest Tatra peak until the year 1837. To its right rises Kežmarský Peak, 2,556 m high. Its 550 m high southern wall is considered to be a climbers’ paradise among mountaineers. The silhouette of these two Tatra peaks makes up an integral part of our logo.
When you stand on top of the Tatra peaks, magnificent vistas open up in front of you, bringing you the feeling you are above it all ...
This is the nature of our Tatran Line.
