Velvet Sarajishvili

Many of the elderly remember Slovak- Georgian movie Rača, my love, about the cooperation of two wine regions with the same name. Each of the regions is in a different country (Slovakia/Georgia) and the distance one from each other is thousands of kilometres. Georgia is one of the countries with the longest wine and brandy production history that represent an important part of their national identity. For Slovaks they are very close – love for vine makes people come together.

Vine is the Icon
The Georgian climate is affected in a great extent by composite geomorphologic structure of the country.  Valleys offer warm subtropical climate with high precipitation contribution. When you go further to the East, the precipitation contribution decreases and the regions there become dry. The Georgian climate suitable for vine growing starts to be dominant. The vine in Georgia is the icon, part of the history, national identity. It is a symbol of regeneration found even as an element of Christian churches decorations. Georgians also have specific lettering found nowhere in the world similar to twisted vine. In the former regime the twisted letters were used blacken on the labels of “Gruziňák“ bottles – respectable „undercounter“ brandy.  It was imported to Slovakia via Soviet Union. Well, it is the reality that until lately the whole Georgian brandy production was conditioned by dictate of Moscow. Nowadays, Georgia is independent and we are enabled to relish brandy Sarajishvili of the velvet taste, unique aroma and beautiful amber colour which is being imported by company Karloff.

From the history of JSC SARAJISHVILI
Company was established in 1884 by David Sarajishvili, famous Georgian entrepreneur, doctor of chemistry and philosophy. At that time, it was the only cognac producing company within whole Russian empire using classical French technology. In the 19th century everything that was French was in Russia very popular so why not to take over the production technology for something so fantastic as brandy. The company was awarded the title of Court supplier for His Majesty Russian Tsar. Thanks to keeping up to this tradition we can say that company JSC Sarajishvili is the honourable continuator of the great predecessor. The company stores in its cellars not only great amount of unique brandy but also raw material prepared from nearly every collecting done over the century. As to the geographical origin and diverse age of maturing “eaux de vie“ they produce and mix Georgian brandy of the best quality.
One of the most exclusive brandies offered by JSC Sarajishvili is Eniseli.  It is being prepared from the selected spirits from Silda and Eniseli regions found in the Alazani valley. We can tell an interesting story where Eniseli plays the leading role. In 1945 during the conference on Jalta Sir Winston Churchill appreciated this brandy so much so he classed it one of the best French cognacs. In fact, it was Eniseli, Georgian brandy, which made Stalin very proud. Later the creator of this brand – Vachtang Cicishvili, was awarded Stalin award which was that time the highest award of USSR. However, we cannot forget the real precious pearl among the brandy made by JSC Sarajishvili – XO. The experts consider it the best brandy in the world.

Company was awarded up to 194 prizes or awards which we can consider the evidence of success at different international fair trades and exhibitions dating since 19th century. Among them we can find unbelievable 21 Grand Prix, actually 126 Golden medals, 36 silver and 11 bronze medals. JSC SARAJISHVILI was the first company producing brandy with the quality certificate ISO 9001 in 2005.
